This restaurant has been difficult for me to review because it is almost a staple in my diet. I eat here about once per week and each time forget to review it, with comfort knowing that I will be back the following week. Well procrastinate no more!
Quarterdeck, on Alton Road in South Beach, is a classic sports bar done right. Quarterdeck serves fresh burgers and seafood, tasty wings, and reasonably priced drinks. Each wooden bench booth is positioned perfectly under a flat screen TV (clearly the restaurant was decorated by a man).

Another perk for those independently employed… FREE WiFi! This is a great place to bring the laptop, grab a happy hour drink special and an appetizer special, and watch the game while finishing off work (or searching for singles in your area…)
Amenities aside, the food is truly well done. I have had occasional visits where the dip and nacho dish was off (too watery) but my returning visits have proven that they simply were off that day.
The burgers are thick, cooked right and always tender and juicy.
My favorite salad is the Yellowfin Tuna salad… Sushi grade tuna served over a bed of field greens, served with an Asian style dressing, soy sauce and wasabi.. I usually eat the tuna as if it were sashimi, and then eat the salad separately after… it is light, healthy and always fresh.

The Crab Dip is probably my least favorite dish on the menu, but the other seafood dishes certainly make up for it.
If they are serving a Shimp Po Boy for a lunch or dinner special, ORDER IT… lightly breaded shrimp on a classic Italian roll served with a spicy red sauce and garlic aioli, lettuce and side of sweet potato fries… This sort of attention to culinary detail is precisely what makes Quarterdeck stand out from the other sports bars in the area.
Oh, and the pasta dishes are definitely big enough for 2.
Overall, I recommend Quarterdeck for catching a game, nursing a hangover, grabbing a quick bite and lunch special, laid back late night drinking with friends, or surfing the web while enjoying a happy hour well drink.
